Innovation Accolade for UK Water Filtration Specialist
Leading North West based water filtration specialist Industrial Purification Systems has been nominated one of the top three finalists at the 2009 Merseyside Innovation Awards for its development of the CrossflowMF1.0, a revolutionary high efficiency media filtration technology.
Commenting on his company's achievement, managing director Steve Cupples said: "Everyone at IPS is delighted to have received such recognition against strong competition for a development we have been working on and testing for a number of years.
"Water is such a valuable natural resource that must be used responsibly by industry. Our technology, which enables the re-use of process water and municipal waste water or use of alternative water sources such as borehole and rainwater harvesting, will help industry not only reap the benefits of controlling energy consumption it will also help increase profitability."
Following impressive test results, the CrossflowMF1.0 has already been installed within a distilling facility to ensure effluent discharge meets consent levels; for a large scale automotive wash off facility; and within a Saudi petrochemical plant for effective effluent water polishing.
"We are very encouraged by the orders we are receiving from a range of industry sectors both here and overseas despite current economic conditions, and these awards can only act as further recommendation," Steve concludes.
Now in their 14th year, the awards acknowledge innovation as a means of boosting local growth and profitability and are open to individuals or companies with less than 50 employees based within Merseyside. The awards have seen the number of applications increasing significantly year by year, this being a clear indication that Merseyside is a breeding ground for many world-class innovations.
The judging panel included: Clockwork Radio inventor, Trevor Bayliss; Professor Murray Dalziel from the University of Liverpool; and Steve Smith, ICT director at Liverpool Vision.
